Luke Skywalker (played by Mark Hamill)is an important character in Episode IV: A New Hope, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
In Episode IV: A New Hope, Luke joins the Rebel Alliance and is later responsible for the destruction of the Death Star (using a Proton Torpedo fired from his X-Wing Fighter) at the Battle of Yavin.
In Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Luke trains under Yoda to become a Jedi. He later meets Darth Vader in a battle at the Cloud City, and during this battle discovers that Darth Vader is his father.
In Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Luke is captured by the Empire and brought on board the Death Star 2. The Emperor Palpatine tries to persuade Luke to turn to the Dark side of the Force, but fails. Emperor Palpatine then attacks Luke, but is killed by Darth Vader.
